Artist Statement
I have painted the image of animals, insects and plants in this particular painting. At the same time, I painted a hidden image over the whole painting. The individual image of animals etc. is part of the whole image.
When those animals, insects and plants in the painting move or grow, that hidden image will disappear.
All sceneries eventually vanish, which makes me think how transient and impermanent they are. At the same time, however, I feel that it is the infinite possibility of the next scenery we will have. I want to express how sceneries exist with the double-image technique in the form of painting.
個展「image×image〜やがて訪れる光のために〜」に添えられた言葉
近作では、動物や昆虫、植物といったイメージ(部分)を描くとともに、もう１つの隠されたイメージ(全体)を描いています。
絵のなかの動物や昆虫、植物が移動したり成長したりすると、もう１つのイメージは消失していきます。
あらゆる光景は消失という側面をもち、刹那的で儚いものであると感じますが、それは次の光景への無限大の可能性でもあるとも感じます。そのような光景のあり方をダブルイメージという技法を使い、絵画に置き換え表現したいと思っています。(2012年6月)
